Everett Watson Mellor was born in Holborn, London in 1878. He was a painter in oils and watercolours of lakeland and Yorkshire scenes. He was the grandson of the artist Joseph Mellor 1827-1888 and the eldest son of William Mellor 1851-1931. His brother Leonard H. Mellor was also an artist.

He was taught to paint by his father, with whose work his is often confused. He never married and was still living with his parents William and Mary in 1911, at the age of 33, where the family lived at 78 Dragon Road, Harrogate. He later lived in Ilkley, but moved to Middlesbrough in his later years, where he died in 1965. He is sometimes referred to as Everett William Mellor and Everett W. Mellor, but his correct name according to his birth registration is Everett Watson Mellor.

His paintings achieve high prices, and a pair of 12" x 8" oils on canvas achieved £2,400 at Tennants, Leyburn on 29.3.2014, while a pair of 10 " x 14" reached £7,600 also at Tennants on 22.4.2004.
